Digital Fabrication | Character AR | 2024
For my final Digital Fabrication pathway project, and I try out AR.

My Goal
My goal is to mix the skills I've learned from my major (Game Design) with my digital technology skills.
Inspired by the concept of collectible minifigures, I'm waiting to create physical figurines of my in-game characters from my capstone project. These figurines will have a platform to support them as well as featuring details and themes that align with my game design project.
Here I changed my idea, NOW, I want to create a digital 3D model using AR, specifically Spark AR, an AR creation software.
I want to find the most effective and visually appealing ways to translate my virtual creations into real-world artifacts through your phone, creating a cool blend of 2D, 3D and AR elements into one project. My game has dark themes of a gloomy apocalyptic world set in the 60’s. So using that theming I'll use 2D and 3D elements to bring my NEW characters to life.
Character and colour design
Final character model
Here I changed my idea again, instead of having a base platform that my digital character would stand on, I went with the idea of creating a stamp that I was able to stamp anywhere I wanted, people could scan the stamped image, and then they can see the AR character on their phones
Here I tested out different materials to see which material was able to transfer a better and clearer image.
